The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences is pleased to offer its postgraduate MSc students several bursaries and scolarships for UK, EU and international students on its courses.
Before you apply for a masters course, please contact us to discuss your choice and find out more about fees and possible funding opportunities.
This is offered by the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain for a student on one of our Petroleum Geoscience courses. It pays £10,000 towards the costs of the course for a UK/EU student.
Two places are funded for UK/EU students. This covers the course fees and £8,500 towards living costs, and also offers the potential for an internship in BP to undertake the final research projects.
If you wish to apply for either scholarship, which are awarded on a merit basis, please indicate this on your application.
Other funding options
Full or partial tuition scholarships and bursaries are sometimes available from The University of Manchester for UK/EU students.
Students can also obtain funds from a variety of sources, including grants and loans, for further details of ways to fund postgraduate studies go to the University website.
Details of funding for overseas students is also available on the University website. Students may also apply for the UK Government Chevening Scholarship.
A large number of our overseas students are funded by oil companies, so we recommend you contact companies in your country that offer overesas scholarships, to see what is available. Examples of companies that provide sponsorship are: Tullow (Uganda), Exxon (Nigeria) and Hess (Libya).
In addition a number of our overeas students obtain scholarships funded by their respective governments.
