Carbonate Sedimentologu and Sequence Stratigraphy

Fieldwork in Tunisa, describing dolomitisation within a regionally extensive Cenomanian to Turonian carbonate platform

The Carbonate group at University of Manchester is focused upon an integrated, multiscale, interdisciplinary and process-based approach to carbonate petroleum geology. Our projects utilise state-of-the-art technology alongside traditional field, petrographical and geochemical techniques to develop a predictive understanding of the interaction between sedimentary processes, structural deformation and diagenetic modification and their impact on flow unit development within carbonate platforms. Our research aims to advance our understanding of depositional and post-depositional processes on carbonate platforms and has direct application to understanding and predicting the spatial distribution of carbonate rock properties in the subsurface.
