NERC Independent Research Fellowships 2017

The School invites expressions of interest from potential applicants for NERC Independent Research Fellowships

Full information on these 5-year fellowships, including the application procedure and eligibility, can be found on the NERC website.

When considering your application, we suggest you make contact with a member of school academic staff appropriate to your research proposal well in advance of the deadline to discuss the School research environment and support we can offer you when developing your proposal.

We also ask that you prepare a formal expression of interest which should include:

•    A 2 page CV
•    Your top publications and a sentence describing your contribution to these papers
•    The names of two referees who would be willing to provide a reference for your Fellowship application
•    The name of your academic contact within the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences
•    1 to 2 page proposal summary which provides a brief background to the fellowship, details of methodology and approach and any other relevant information, including your needs in terms of access to facilities.

The deadline for submission of expressions of interest is 4th September 2017.

The School will confirm whether they are in a position to support your application by 11th September 2017.

If you are selected as one of the Manchester-supported candidates we will work closely with you to prepare a full application to NERC (deadline 3rd October 2017).

Expressions should be submitted to Sara Lockett (Research Support Manager) and copied to the academic member of staff that you have contacted to discuss your application.
